Sennelier celebrates 125 years of producing the finest artist materials with a new line of watercolors, a bright and lively palette in the tradition of French Impressionists. These watercolor sets feature a range of beautiful colors (including single pigment colors, many unique to Sennelier) which evoke the timeless beauty and vibrancy of Southern France, all reformulated with increased honey content for enhanced brilliance and luminosity. The honey also acts as a preservative to extend longevity.

This set contains one Raphael Kolinsky Sable round (size 4) and 96 colours from the Sennelier l’Aquarelle range. This is the full range of colours listed in the colour chart below with the exception of two colours which Sennelier has been unable to make recently due to supply issues. While these problems persist, they will be replaced with an extra tube in a similar colour. The colours are housed within a wooden presentation box for protection during storage or transport.

L'Aquarelle Sennelier has been produced in the same way for more than a century using high-quality pigments and top quality Kordofan Gum Arabic as a bonding agent. The honey used in L'Aquarelle Sennelier acts not only as a preservative, but also as an additive that adds brilliance and smoothness to the paint. Sennelier has revamped its watercolour formula, increasing the amount of honey to reinforce the longevity, radiance, and luminosity of the colours.

True to Sennelier's roots, the colour palette remains that of the Impressionists and the paint is made in France using traditional methods. Each colour is ground in the traditional way using grindstones rotating slowly so as not to heat up the paste. This operation is carried out in several stages until the paste are as fine as possible, getting rid of any particles which might impair the smoothness of the wash.
